South Wimbledon is an underground station London Underground in the urban district London Borough OF Merton. It is at the border of the Travelcard Tarifzonen 3 and 4. With the station building the four main streets Merton High Street (in the east) cross, Merton Road (in the north), Kingston Road (in the west) and murders Road (in the south). The station served by courses of the Northern LINE in the year 2004 by 2.914 million passengers one used.

The station was opened on 13 September 1926 as part of the extension from Clapham Common after murders. All station buildings of this extension were sketched to the "house architect at that time" by Charles Holden, of London Underground.

The station South Wimbledon lies not in the quarter Wimbledon, but about a kilometer southeast of it. During the station opening one thought that with the name Wimbledon a higher social prestige was connected than with the actual location Merton. For reasons of the geographical correctness at the beginning the linear network plans and the station building with South Wimbledon (Merton) were marked. The clammy additive was let gradual fall however with the time.
