The sixth book social legislation (also: SGB VI, social legislation sixth book) from 18 December 1989 essentially came into force on 1 January 1992. It stepped thereby to the place of the old age pension insurance-legal regulations of the Reich Insurance Code (RVO), the employee insurance law (AVG) and the realm scarce shank law (RKG).

The SGB VI places the basis for the legal old age pension insurance in Germany.

By the law to the organization reform in the legal old age pension insurance from 9 December 2004 (BGBl. I P. 3242, the entry into force on 1 January 2005) will occur substantial changes starting from 1 October 2005 particularly in the range of the competencies and the structure.

Structure

The sixth book social legislation is divided into six chapters, which are arranged into sections and subsections again. The SGB VI contains besides 23 plants.

First chapter

The first chapter of the SGB VI treats the insured circle of acquaintances into "§"§ the 1 to 8.

Second chapter

The second chapter treats the achievements of the old age pension insurance in "§"§ the 9 to 124.

The third chapter treats the ranges organization, data security and data security in "§"§ the 125 to 152.
