Social authority designates the complex all the personal abilities and attitudes, which contribute to align the own behavior of an individual to a joint action orientation and to affect in this sense also the behavior and the attitudes from coworkers to in the elevated colloquial language. "Social competent" behavior links the individual action goals of persons with the attitudes and values of a group.

The term "socially" can be understood here socialpsychologically as "interhumanly", sociological-worth-neutrally as "socially" or economiceconomics as moral.

Economic life

"Social authority" is used in enterprises frequently synonymously with the so-called "softly skills". The term of the social authority is however more comprehensive and embraces e.g. also criticism ability.

This kind of the authority applies on the job market for the middle management as a key qualification and describes in this connection the ability to bring and to use for common goals "team spirit" and motivation into co-operation with others (colleague, customer, superior, coworkers). As "social authority" also the successful effect of superiors is considered on the work of coworkers.

The term of the social authority is used in particular in the personnel management, approximately in connection with choice of personnel, Coaching, supervision, system information or Peer Leader training. There is no standardized group of personality characteristics, which are assigned to the social authority. The used Konstrukte and test procedures subjectively selected, partly also differently in different industries.

In the psychology "social authority" designates the whole of the talents, which are for the social interaction useful or necessary.

The education to the social authority must begin as promptly as possible, if it wants to be successful. Only with extreme consequence and tolerance, as well as learning on the basis even deeply felt authentic examples learning) to be able easy to small successes to adjust itself. How difficult it is to obtain lastingly successes one recognizes for example with the fight against prejudices.

Criticism

The term social authority is used in a multiplicity of meanings, which limits the usefulness of the term.

An alternative definition of social authority is to be reread with Asendorpf: Therefore the social authority consists of two components: Conflict ability and willing to cooperate shank.
