Situatives leading is a style of leadership developed by Dr. Paul Hersey and its coworkers in the center for Leadership (San Diego, California).

Dr. Paul Hersey set up Blanchard this theory together with Ken H.

Blanchard is a chairman of "Blanchard Training and Development, Inc.". He created this company for management consultation and management training together with his wife. He is a guest professor of the Cornell University.

The basic principle of this style of leadership is based on the acceptance that each coworker must be led after his Reifegrad, in order to set its Potenziale free for the enterprise.

Not the high-level personnel leads with it own the style, but it adapts its style of leadership to the need of the coworker.

The Reifegrad of a coworker is determined from the combination of willingness and ability. As a result of the development from low to very highly four basic forms arise.

  • Reifegrad 1: not able and not willingly or not able and uncertainly
  • Reifegrad 2: not able, but willingly or not able, but in a spirit of mutual confidence
  • Reifegrad 3: able, but not willingly or able, but uncertainly
  • Reifegrad 4: able and willingly or able and in a spirit of mutual confidence

From it the kind of the guidance results

  • Reifegrad 1: Dictate: Give exact instructions and supervise the achievement!
  • Reifegrad 2: Argue: Explain decisions and give opportunity for clarifying questions!
  • Reifegrad 3: Participate: Communicate ideas and encourage decisions to make!
  • Reifegrad 4: Delegate: Hand the responsibility over for decision making and execution!
