Sick leave is a special form of the vacation, which is to serve the receipt and the re-establishment of the worker of the person employed.

The range of the vacation entitlement of an employee depends primarily on the work contract, whereby however collective agreements and above all the law specify minimum requirements, which may not be fallen below contractually. In Germany to that extent "§ 3 federal vacation law is relevant, which plans "24 working-days", what with a 5-Tage-Woche actually however only 20 working days is. For juvenile employees the legal minimum vacation amounts to after "§ 19 law for the protection of young workers depending upon age 25-30 working-days. Severely disabled ones get severely disabled law Zusatzurlaub of 5 working days after "§ 47. Actually most employees in Germany have today a vacation entitlement of approximately 30 days per year.
