The SEW Eurodrive GmbH & CO. Kg is a German manufacturer of electrical propulsion technology. The head office is in the Bruchsal of Baden.

The enterprise

Based as "South German electric motor works" in the year 1931 the company to end of war had only regional meaning. In the year 1945 the management was transferred by Ernst Blickle, put under its guidance of two substantial foundation-stones for later success. On the one hand this was the development of a "building block principle" for gear motors, with which from relatively few parts strongly the specific customer requirements adapted product can be realized. Logically one ignored already end of the sixties to concentrate the parts manufacture at few locations to decentralize the customized final assembly however. This was the second foundation-stone for the rapid expansion of the company.

In the year 1987 and/or 1989 become Seriousness Blickles son Rainer and after its death acting partner the of the SEW Eurodrive group. Under its line (and becomes) the world-wide operational readiness level was continued to develop and the Produktportfolio was extended.

Today SEW Eurodrive eleven manufacturing works in Germany, France, Brazil, China, Finland and the USA, 58 assembly plants in 44 countries, has over 10.000 coworkers and an annual turnover of over 1,2 billion " (conditions 2006).
