A security order is the order for the purchase or sales of a certain quantity of portion lights of a corporation or a similar financial instrument. In former times shares (portion lights at an enterprise) and pensions (loaned stocks predominantly became, e.g. Government loans) as securities regards. In the meantime the variety of the products changed itself (e.g. by options and Futures) and one speaks therefore rather of financial instruments.

For the execution of the order there are regulations, those in the stock exchange order of the respective trade place (stock exchange) is regulated - an exception forms the OTC order (more over the more counter). This is a free agreement between two contracting parties (usually large institutional investors).

Orders have the here usually following components:

  • Number and kind of the market article which can be ordered. With securities name, WKN or ISIN,
  • Purchase/sales
  • if necessary limit or other special order additives
  • if necessary validity period

An order can possess different types:

  • Market order (price order best)
    • The order is implemented at in each case the price valid at the stock exchange at the time of the order input.
  • Limit order
    • The order is better implemented at a given price or. The order (at most stock exchanges maximally 90 days) if the indicated price should not be achieved at run time, then the order is deleted. Usually a shorter running time of the order is given.
