The Schwarzwurzel (Scorzonera) is a plant kind in the family of the basket bloom plants (Asteraceae), which cover altogether about 100 kinds.

The most well-known kind within the Schwarzwurzel is the "garden black root" (Scorzonera hispanica L.), which is called often also simply "Schwarzwurzel".
