The Schoeller Bleckmann of steel plants is a former Montanunternehmen in Austria.

The company resulted 1924 from the fusion of the two enterprises Schoeller of steel plants and Bleckmann of steel plants.

Establishment

The Schoeller of steel plants was created 1887 in Ternitz by Alexander knight by Schoeller.

The Bleckmann of steel plants goes back on the hammer work which Johann H acquired. A. Bleckmann 1862 of the prince Sulkowsky. Bleckmann developed it between 1863 and 1874 to the integrated metallurgical plant "Bleckmann of steel plants AG". Later the "new hammer" and the were added, both to rolling mills were converted in the local part. At this time approximately 600 workers were busy, this number rose during the First World War on nearly 3000 people including the prisoners of war. The company produced sounding and tool steel with modern crucible casting steel kilns starting from 1864 and the first Siemens-Martin open-hearth furnaces (since 1874). Fusions

The successors combined 1924 the Bleckmann Stahwerke with the steel plants Schoeller to the Schoeller Bleckmann AG. This was put under state control 1946. 1975 the Austrian high-grade steel producers to the national "combined high-grade steel works AG" (VEW) united as 100%ige daughter of the VOEST alpine AG.

Today

1988 came it again to the fragmentation and the following privatisation, by which the former Schoeller Bleckmann of steel plants came to the entrepreneurial group Uddeholm AG and firmieren today as of sheet metals into

1991 came it by a management Buy Out to a splitting off of the manufacturer from smooth high-grade steel pipes, the Schoeller Bleckmann high-grade steel pipe AG into Ternitz, which belongs since 1999 to the Spanish TUBACEX.
