Schneitelung is the back cut of trees (e.g. Ash, pastures) for the production of the impulses.

With pastures the top of the tree at a value of typically 1-2 meters is cut off. There form new impulses, which can be used for different purposes. With pastures one can e.g. make basket goods of the new impulses. The tree grows into the form of a common white willow. Stronger impulses must be cut off and/or removed regularly (usually of several years, if they fell trees), so that the tree breaks not under the own weight and forms further recent impulses.

With certain trees the recent impulses are suitable as Viehfutter. In the alpine region became for this into early 20. Century above all the common ash (Fraxinus excelsior) cultivated. The impulses became with a Sichel snowing ELT. This form that management calls itself Schneitelwirtschaft.
