Willy Schlieker took over 1957 the iron works Ottensen, which from a foundry and threw in Hamburg-Steinwerder existed. Its father worked there once as if boiler-forge. Schlieker built it to one of the most modern shipyards, which Schliekerwerft over, in which also small warships were built.

After the bankruptcy of the Schlieker Imperiums the throwing area was taken over by Blohm & Voss.
