Schiedmayer is the name of a German instrument making he family, since that the 18. Century as manufacturers of key instruments is active.

History

Beginnings

The first instrument farmer of the family was the organ and piano farmer Balthasar Schiedmayer (1711-1781) in attaining. From it no instruments are received. Three of its sons learned likewise the piano farmer handicraft:

Schiedmayer & sons

Its son Johann Lorenz Schiedmayer (1786-1860) created 1809 together with Carl in Stuttgart the company & Schiedmayer. The enterprise became soon over the borders of the region admits. In the 1970er and 1980er years instruments under the mark Schiedmayer of Kawai were manufactured. 1980 sold George Schiedmayer the piano mark to the tradition enterprise Rud. Ibach son.

It with George Schiedmayer GmbH resumed the Celestabau tradition, 1992 followed from its widow Elianne Schiedmayer. The Schiedmayer Celesta GmbH with seven coworkers is since 2001 resides in Wendlingen at the Neckar close Stuttgart. Schiedmayer Celesten and - keyboard bell plays are used from Sinfonieorchestern and opera houses world-wide and were in 20. Century long time practically competitionless, until Yamaha entered 1994 into the Celestabau.

J. & P. Schiedmayer

Julius and Paul Schiedmayer, the younger sons J.L. Schiedmayers, created 1853 in Stuttgart the workshop for Harmoniumbau J. & P. Schiedmayer, which built soon also pianos. Combination instruments like the Schiedmayer Scheola (a mixture of organ, Harmonium and Celesta) and playing mechanical instruments, also failed, belonged to the program. The enterprise firmierte later under Schiedmayer, Pianofortefabrik. 1969 were taken over it of other Stuttgart branch of the family (Schiedmayer & sons).

Mueller Schiedmayer

The workshop Mueller Schiedmayer was created 1874 in peppering castle by the son of a daughter J.L. Schiedmayers, which had learned Schiedmayer with J. & P. and with Steinway in New York.
