The Schering corporation (based 1871) is world-wide a German, searching Pharmaunternehmen with more than 24,000 coworkers in 140 subsidiaries. The head office is in Berlin Wedding. The conversion of the enterprise noted in the DAX amounted to 2005 approx. 5.3 billion euro.

Founder was Ernst Schering.

The largest German production location is in mountain-come.

Current

In March 2006 the German Pharmakonzern Merck KGaA started an assumption attempt, rejects the Schering executive committee this unjustified demand however provisionally as "unwanted and insufficiently ". Article in the FAZ: Schering rejects offer of Merck, 12. March 2006

In response those made an offer for Bavarian AG the assumption of the Schering AG, the shareholders of the Schering AG are to be able to sell their share for 86 "€ at Bavarian, this value are appropriate for 39 % over the course, before becoming known the assumption hostile takeover Merck KGaA. Schering welcomes this project and supports Bavarian. The new enterprise is to be called Bavarian Schering Pharma. Information on Bavarian news Channel: Bavarian wants to take over Schering and offers to the shareholders 86 euro per share, 23. March 2006 due to this announcement withdrew Merck KGaA its assumption attempt and will submit no offer.

Schering was evaluated before the assumption offer by Merck with a stock exchange value of approx. 13 billion euro, the offer of Bavarian evaluates Schering with altogether 16.5 billion euro. Largest portion owner is the insurance company alliance AG, which last 10.85 % of the Schering papers held. The remainder of the shares lies in the strewing possession.
