The SAS of institutes is one 1976 created, world-wide operating software house in private property with seat in Cary, North Carolina, the USA also over a billion euro annual turnover. The head offices for EMEA and Germany are in Heidelberg, the head office for Austria in Wien.Der name SAS stand for Statistical analysis of system.

SAS provides program products for fastidious statistic analyses, for DATA Mining, for DATA Warehouse solutions and for Business Intelligence including efficient OLAP servers and components. Beyond that SAS developed from the outset software for the IT-management, which is used today for IT-performance the management, IT Capacity management, IT Scorecard and the IT Controlling. Thus become requirements, which result e.g. from ITIL (e.g. Service management etc.), taken off.

SAS oriented itself in the last years more and more to a finaluser-oriented user surface, without neglecting however the High performance requirement, which constitutes success according to advertising statement of SAS with 99 % the Fortune-5000-Unternehmen.

Beside their own data base format also interfaces exist to various other data sources (data bases, applications, FlatFiles etc.).

SAS in own programming languages is programmed, particularly in cousin SAS. Programs in C and Java can be merged.

For PCs under Windows the integrated system JMP is offered.
