Sarotti is a steeped in tradition German chocolate mark, which is since 1998 in the possession of the Stollwerck GmbH.

History

Heinrich Ludwig Neumann opened 1852 in the citizens of Berlin Friedrichstrasse "the Confiseur Waaren action Felix & Sarotti "and sold to a large extent imported Confiserie from Paris.

In the year 1881 Hugo Hoffmann transferred the business. The Konditor had already since 1868 an enterprise for production "fine chocolates, Fondants and fruit pies "and supplied also Neumann. It united manufacturing plant and shop after the assumption in the Mohrenstrasse and sold the products from now on under the name Sarotti.

Over the origin of the name there are only speculations. So an Italian sugar baker of same name godfather adjusted by Neumann could have confessed. The enterprise ran so well that production had to pull 1883 into the larger premises in the bark Alliance road (today Mehringdamm) and Paul Tiede entered as a partner separately into the two still firmierenden enterprises. The production enterprise was called now "Hoffmann & Tiede", the business "Felix and Sarotti".

The word mark Sarotti was announced 1894. In the subsequent years the enterprise continued to expand. The number of the employees rose from 162 to 1.000 and the manufacturing plants on the adjoining properties was extended. 1903 developed "the Sarotti Chocoladen and Cacao corporation ".

The two entrepreneurs died in the years 1911 and 1912. Hugo Hoffmann son max took over the line. 1913 were opened the new manufacturing plant in Tempelhof with approximately 2,000 coworkers. In the First World War production decreased/went back, the number of the coworkers sank to half.

In the year 50. Firm anniversary 1918 the Mohr emerged as mark figure for the first time. On packing in shape of three Mohren with tray. It was supposed a support to the fact that the company headquarters was in the Mohrenstrasse. To develop two years later the commercial artist Professor Julius Gipkens assigns a new Firmenlogo. The Sarotti Mohr was born and 1922 into the register of trademarks was registered.

The product assortment reached of finest chocolate goods, chocolates, cocoa, Marzipanerzeugnisse, Fondants up to 1929 took over Swiss corporation the majority at the Sarotti AG.

In the 60's 20. Century became the Sarotti Mohr by TV commercials a popular Werbefigur, with whom the mark until today is connected. 1998 separated from Sarotti and Stollwerck took over the tradition mark, which admits however only on the German market is. 2004 was again-arranged all products extensively and for reasons of the Political Correctness carries the Mohr since that time no more tray and is called now Sarotti Magier of the senses.
