Samuel Ryder (* 24. March 1858 in Preston, Lancashire, England, "† 2 January 1936 in London) was a British seed dealer from St Albans in Hertfordshire, England. World-wide admittingness attained its name by the reason and donation of the Ryder Cup, the most important crew competition in the professional gulf haven.

Ryder made a fortune by the first sales of plant seeds in so-called penny packets, thus for Kleinstverpackungen, which were easily affordable for everyone.

Only at the age of 50 years Ryder began with the gulf play, in order to recover health. Fast its passion grew and after it had pursued once a match between Golfern of the island and the USA, it made the suggestion to change the play format and donated to 1927 a the so-called Ryder Cup.
