The safety representative (SiBe) is one of an enterprise in writing ordered person, those the entrepreneur, the high-level personnel, the specialist for industrial safety, the company doctor and the colleagues supports accidents to avoid occupational diseases and health dangers. The safety representative is coworker of the enterprise.

Industrial safety

The person is in each enterprise with more than 20 persons employed and seat in Germany to order ("§ 22 SGB VII). The task comes to the safety representative to recognize and adequately to it react in their work area accident and health dangers (industrial safety) as well as observe due to its local, technical and expertise whether the prescribed safety divices and - equipment are present. Safety representatives are supporting without expenditure of time on their respective working plane, for this fixed, actively, appear opposite the coworkers as multiplicator and cause by its operational readiness level and its model function as well as by its collegial influencing a safetyfair behavior of the coworkers. As "property practice "e.g. the use of safety representatives turned out as a godfather for operating beginners. The safety representative is exclusively honorary active in his function and can replace the advisory function of a specialist for industrial safety or a company doctor in no case.

Safety representatives should be not at the same time superiors. This describes the optimal condition for a majority of the enterprises; general holding to this statement for all industries and operating structures is not meaningful and does not reflect operational practice also again. The order of safety representatives is prescribed in enterprises with regularly more than 20 persons employed of the professional associations ("§ 20 BGV A1 of "principles of prevention").

Safety representatives are also member in the industrial safety committee (ASP).
