The safeguarding of traffic concept "German coast "guarantees the protection of dangers for security and ease of traffic as well as from the navigation of outgoing dangers at the German coast by primarily preventive, sovereign measures. The success of this concept reflects itself in the small accident rate in the entire German coastal sea. This was reduced in the German bay with an annual traffic volume by approx. 65,000 compulsorily notifiable ships (more largely 50 m) to 0,0035%. Appropriate applies to the German Baltic Sea despite at present substantially increasing navigation from the Eastern European area.

Responsible authorities

As authorities of the water and navigation administration of the federation (WSV) the water and shipping managements north (Kiel) and northwest are (Aurich) as well as them the subordinate water and offices for shipping responsibly for security and ease of traffic as well as preventing of the navigation of outgoing dangers on lake. Due to these tasks of the water and navigation managements the safeguarding of traffic concept mentioned by the departments navigation was developed "German coast ", which consists security at the German coast of different modules and with its preventive measures for the defense ensured by dangers.

A priority goal of the water and navigation managements and them the subordinate offices is it to guarantee by means of preventive measures security and ease of traffic and not to let dangers and in particular disturbances occur even.
