RFT (broadcast and telecommunication technology) was the name of a manufacturer group of various companies of the communications technology in the GDR. RFT radio and telecommunication technology is thus no company name, but registered trade mark Signet and/or Logo of a registered trade mark federation in the GDR for "radio-related products". Later one translated RFT also with representative of progressive technology.
Consisting of several enterprises, one manufactured home electronics devices particularly within the HiFi range, for example Stereoanlagen and television sets, initially also tape recorders and radios. Seat of the collective combine was Leipzig, principal firm for the broadcast and television set production was Stassfurt in Saxonia-Anhalt.
A further sector were telecommunication installations and signal technology for post office, National Railroad, military and equipment construction. Finally however the RFT an association for the protection of trademarks of most diverse manufacturer lines and collective combines under uniform label, was later also named "broadcast and television engineering" under which of the over transistor, microchip, condenser, antenna system was driven out up to the complete short wave transmitter within 250 the kilowatt range of everything, which had to offer the GDR communications technology.
A large amount of originally independent smaller and larger equipment and apparatus manufacturer in the course of the history of the GDR were put under state control. In addition also parts of the former companies Siemens, AEG and other large-scale enterprises belonged. It got some smaller private companies only into the 1970er years. From all these companies the VVB RFT radio and telecommunication technology Leipzig was formed, from which the collective combine came out later. The products were manufactured under the uniform label RFT. With this designation therefore in the GDR so quite everything was provided, which had to do with communications technology, also, but not only, in the Consumer range. Therefore firm history is extraordinarily various and complicated. The collective combines in the GDR increased with the years by integration of further companies and even smaller collective combines steadily. Thus e.g. 1979 the collective combine RFT measuring electronics, which almost united meanwhile the entire production of measuring instruments, were transferred of Dresdens into the collective combine Robotron. The measuring instruments were manufactured nevertheless partial far under the label RFT.

The radio work in Leipzig
In Leipzig was one of the four VEB of star radio enterprises. It went out of 1925 created Dr. Dietz & Ritter GmbH, factory for products of radio and transformers, Leipzig out. 1940 developed from it the - radio works Oswald knight GmbH, which produced the well-known It went 1948 into the west to the Chiemsee. The enterprise in Leipzig was expropriated 1948 and renamed 1949 in VEB radio work Leipzig, later again in VEB RFT star radio Leipzig. A further work in Leipzig the VEB electroacoustics Leipzig in the collective combine star radio Berlin manufactured record players, likewise under the trademark RFT.

The origin of all enterprises producing in Leipzig radio was that 1925 from parts of the & Mathiesen AG" created work "Dr. Dietz and Ritter AG, radio". From this 1939 became the companies "Oswald knight AG, radio" and as obligatory separating of a division "the Leipziger building of radios GmbH "as realm-own enterprise. The second enterprise 1945 ago was thus the company "Oswald knight AG, radio ". also after 1945 this name kept and only 1948 took place after the expropriation renaming in "VEB radio work Leipzig ". Independently of this already rather complicated firm development there were several small firms. 1948 developed from such the VEB (K) for building of electrical appliances Leipzig, 1954 were added further small firms and 1965 developed from it "the VEB electroacoustics Leipzig ",1980 attached one then the 1971 developed "VEB electrotechnical workshop "and than coronation/culmination merged then 1980 the two enterprises VEB collective combine communications work Leipzig and VEB electroacoustics Leipzig into the " VEB communications work Leipzig, master enterprise VEB collective combine message electronics ",1987 took place then still another renaming inVEB RFT message electronics Leipzig "Albert Norden ", enterprise VEB collective combine message electronics.
The city Stassfurt has a steeped in tradition history in production for entertainment electronics. 1928 were created the work "Stassfurter of light and power stations AG, abbott building of radios " with the label name "imperial ". Here the first Superhet Germany in series was produced, and in the thirties the receivers "Stassfurt imperial" of the top class. After the war the firm founder could open 1948 in the western resin before country in Osterode a new company under the name Continental - broadcast GmbH, which went later to 1957 into bankruptcy and in General Electric came up. The Stassfurter work was expropriated and renamed in "VEB star radio Stassfurt". It firmirte at that time already as a component of the VVB RFT radio and telecommunication technology Leipzig. Beside the Stassfurter enterprise gave it still 3 far star-shaped wheel IO works in the GDR, among other things in Berlin, which were organized in their own collective combine. Most popular product was the transistor radio asterisk since 1957 in the VEB the star radio sun mountain in Thuringia and in Berlin was produced. In the Stassfurter work from 1959 to today also television sets are manufactured. 1962 were adjusted radio production and the company renamed in "VEB television set work Stassfurt". It had now 2,500 persons employed. She remained a largest TV home receiver producer in the GDR, beside whom Rafena work took up the production of portable TV-Receivern in Radeberg and the VEB Robotron to the 1980er years. Stassfurt had 1988 an annual production of 500.000 devices. There was among other things a branch work in resounds (Saale).
From the Stassfurter work followed 1990 broadcast television telecommunications AG Stassfurt. It is nearly completely completed until 1996. 1997/98 were created those RFT digitally GmbH with 100 coworkers.
