The reactor engineering is the science of the construction of nuclear fission reactors, both in the civilian, and in the military range. It is in the classical sense an engineer discipline, although it the scientific treatment of the technically used nuclear fission, which is closely related reactor physics.
This is not to confound with the nuclear physics or atomic physics, which concerns themselves particularly with the theoretical bases of the mathematical description of Kernprozessen.
The central model of in practice used reactor engineering is at least considered regarding the distinction between thermal and fast neutrons the model of group of two of the point reactor, which ignores the spatial divergence of the reaction processes in favor of a mathematically more simply manageable description, but the action spectra of the gap processes, with which the presentation of the neutrons is integrated at least in simplified form.
For the correct design of a power reactor however a combination of more accurate, usually numeric, mathematical models is and also in the enterprise always repeated river measurements in different operating conditions essential.
