The RWE AG (to 1990 Rheinisch power station AG) is the second largest German power supply firm with head office in meals.

History

On 25 April 1898 the Rheinisch power station AG (RWE) was created by the AG before times W. Lahmeyer & CO and the German society for electrical enterprises, in order to supply the city meal with electricity.

In the context of the concentration on core authority the RWE AG announced on 4 November 2005 to sell the water business of RWE Thames Water in Great Britain and of American Water in North America.

In December 2005 RWE turned out as a network carrier in connection with heavy power failures in parts of the cathedral Muenster into the headlines, after as consequence of a violent beginning of winter several Hochspannungsmasten broke down there and were completely together broken the current supply in parts of the cathedral Muenster. The past supervisory board chairman Friedel Neuber died in October 2004. As a successor Thomas's R. Fischer, Vorstandsvorsitzender of the WestLB is selected.
