The Russian rouble is the currency of Russia.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union the rouble in the succession states was replaced by own national currencies; only in Russia the old currency remained in the circulation. Still 1992 notes with the emblems the no more existenten Soviet Union given change. In addition, in the same year new notes with the Russian flag and the name appeared to the Russian central bank in place of a national designation. After some years of high inflation the currency was denominiert 1998, so that 1000 old roubles (ISO 4217 RUR) correspond to a new rouble (RUB).

Only the currency of white Russia is likewise called by the own national currencies of the remaining succession states of the Soviet Union roubles (see for this Byelorussian rouble).
