Rudolf Karl von Gottschall (* 30 September 1823 in Breslau; "† 21. March 1909 in Leipzig) was a German dramatist, Epiker, a storyteller, a Literarhistoriker and a critic.

Life

God sound, son of a Prussian artillery officer, studied jurisprudence since 1841 in king mountain, however because of political agitation of the university was referred. God sound continued its study in Breslau, then in Berlin, could 1846 in king mountain finally attain a doctorate. It closed 1841 in king mountain of the Burschenschaft Hochhemia and 1843 the Breslauer Burschenschaft (today: Old Breslauer Burschenschaft of the Raczeks to Bonn) on.

1847 it became Dramaturg at the city theatre, went 1848 to Hamburg, 1852 to Breslau (it married Marie Freiin of Seherr Thoss) and 1862 to floats, where he was briefly an editor of the East German newspaper. From 1864 to 1888 God sound was publisher of the sheets for literary maintenance and our time (both magazines in the possession publishing house house of the F.A. Brockhaus) in Leipzig. 1877 were lifted God sound into the hereditary aristocracy.

God sound progressive work was respected, its dramas was gladly played during its lifetimes. Its works were characterised particularly by time-related criticism, which contributed also to the fact that he came after his death fast into oblivion.

God sound, whose son Hermann of God sound became a German chess master, was initial member of the German chess federation 1877 in Leipzig.
