The Soviet pion Rudolf Iwanowitsch Abel (Russian ), bear as William Genrikowitsch Fischer alias Rudolf Ivanovich Abel, ("Willie") William Genrikowitsch (August) Fisher (also Fischer), Emil Robert Goldfus (also foot, foot), franc, Marc, Andrew Kayotis, Martin Collins, * 11 July 1903 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Great Britain, "† 15. November 1971 in Moscow, USSR) be one the successful agent the USSR in the USA. It was among other things involved in the betrayal of the American atomic secrets to the Soviet Union.

On 10 February 1962 he was exchanged on the Glienicker bridge at the border of potsdam (GDR) to West Berlin against the American U-2-Piloten and CIA feeler gauge Captain Powers. At the latest this procedure announced it world-wide.

Since a denomination of the current in each case name is too confusing, it is designated in the following articles with ABEL. Jeweis the "valid" name is noted, if changes resulted. Probably there were still different pseudonyms, which are not mentioned in the documentations.

  • On ABELs initiative takes up its long way companion Kirill Chenkin contact to the renowned Russian physicist, Pjotr Kapiza (Nobelpreis for physics 1978). Chenkin believes that it is very important for ABEL, if it persuades Kapiza to return to the Soviet Union. Kapizas passport is drawn in and he is prevented from the departure, although he enjoys otherwise many privileges and for him even his own Institut was built. In the memoirs of Andrei Sakharov confirms to Kapiza the incident and mentions therein also ABELs correct name Fischer.
• 1936 it leads a training centre for radio operators, who are to be used in illegal residences.
• 1938 ABEL becomes in Czernowitz (also Tschernowitz; Ukrainian Romanian Cernauti, Russian in the border area Bukowina, Galizien and Poland occupied by Germans used.
