Rudolf Frey (* 22 August 1917 in Heidelberg; "Â 23 December 1981 in Mainz) was a physician, university professor and founder club of the OF Mainz.
Rudolf Frey studied in Munich, Freiburg, Strasbourg and Heidelberg, where it became member of the Burschenschaft Vineta. He taught from 1942 to 1952 in Heidelberg as a private lecturer and was one of the pioneers of the European 1956 he became in Heidelberg an unscheduled professor. 1960 were Frey the first chair owner in the Federal Republic for this area in Mainz. Here it developed numerous programs, which in the revival, intensive, emergency and disaster medicine, in which pain treatment and in the problems of the ethics justified its international rank. With extensive scientific work to all questions of its field of activity Frey is so extensively represented in the international literature that enumerating of the most important work is not possible here. On its initiative the accident rescue with helicopters and emergency surgeon cars was developed.
Apart from many honours, member and honorary memberships of the specialized combinations in France, England, Italy, the USA, Japan and South Africa, under it the "Committee OF Cardiopulmonal Reanimation" led by him, the world league of the anaesthesia companies Pittsburgh, and led he created the "club OF Mainz" (the today's World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine) starting from 1976, an organization for world-wide emergency and disaster medicine.
