Royal Mail Ship (or Steamer), usually only with the abbreviation RMS used, is a ship abbreviation, which is used for all ships, the post office of the British Royal Mail carry.

The abbreviation is used since the 1840ern. The Cunard LINE was at that time the largest post office shipper, everything their ships had this abbreviation in the name. Also the Titanic carried this name prefix.

In 20. Century has the air mail the Royal Mail Ships displaced, only few post office ships operates on the Atlantic, for example the RMS '' pc. Helena '', which supplies the island pc. Helena with post office or which RMS '' Queen Mary 2 '', of which however majority only as passenger liner admits is.
