A Roundturn (English usually round turn) is a procedure, with which two partial procedures close like a circle.

  • In the financial system with a Roundturn an final transaction is marked, with which in particular something was bought and sold again. The two single actions are called helping turn. Particularly in the stock exchange transaction, particularly with option dealings, this term is frequent, because Turnaround lasting from days or even minutes is pretty often and is even particularly small the interest in the base value (Underlying) here in relation to the interest in the realization of profits.
  • In the computer engineering one can mark procedures, with which data arrive at another system and again back at the origin with Roundturn. Common this designation is in particular in the software test. One can test interfaces, at which a transformation (translation) takes place into another format, very well, in which one lets data transfer and back-transfer again (of the interface counterpart). Ideally these data should be unchanged then. Comparisons can do one this figurativy with the translating of a German text into a foreign language and re-translating, without the origin text admits is. Thus it becomes also clear that a completely identical text can be in many cases a goal which can be achieved with difficulty.
