The Romanesco (Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. botrytis f. botrytis cv.), also pyramid cauliflower, minarett or mentioned, is a variant of the vegetable Kohl, which was bred in close proximity to Rome. Since that 16. Century he is cultivated also in Germany. Against persistent rumors, the Romanesco became not at the beginning 20. Century bred by Victor Vladimir Romanesco in Romania and there after its breeder designated.
It belongs thereby into the kind Brassica from the family of the cross bloom plants (Brassicaceae). The green bloom conditions of the Romanesco are mostly cooked eaten. It has a high content of Vitamin C and exceeds therein that of the cauliflower.
The Romanesco belongs to the few plant types, which at the same time exhibit self similarity and thus a fraktale structure as well as Fibonacci spirals in their bloom conditions.
