Robert Bosch (* 23 September 1861 in Albeck with Ulm; "Â 12. March 1942 in Stuttgart) was a German Industrieller.
Robert Bosch was born as eleven-width units northeast from twelve children on 23 September 1861 in Albeck, a village from Ulm. Its parents belonged to the regional rural Oberschicht. The father Servatius Bosch, a Freimaurer, was educated beyond its conditions and attached particular importance to good training of his children. From 1869 to 1876 Robert Bosch visited the Ulmer six-form high school and completed thereafter mechanic teachings. Subsequently, Bosch worked seven years long at different enterprises in Germany, the USA (with Edison) and Great Britain (Siemens).
On 15 November 1886 Robert Bosch in Stuttgart opened one "to workshop for precision mechanics and electro-technology ". 1887 it improved there a not patented magneto ignition of engine works Deutz crucially and had thereby first economic successes. The apparatus served for the production of an electrical spark, with which the gas mixture was brought in (stationary) a combustion engine to the explosion. 1897 succeeded it to Bosch for the first time to adapt such a magneto ignition to a motorcar engine. Thus it solved one of the largest technical problems of the still recent automotive engineering.
Already before the turn of the century Bosch expanded its business abroad, first 1898 to Great Britain and further European countries. 1906 could be opened the first agency and 1910 the first factory in the USA. 1913 possessed the enterprise addresses in America, Asia, Africa and Australia and gained 88% of the conversion outside of Germany. Innovations for the motor vehicle Bosch brought after the First World War in rapid consequence on the market, among other things to 1927 Diesel injection. Under the impression of the world-wide economic crisis of the 1920er years initiated Robert Bosch in its enterprise besides a consistent modernization and diversification process. In few years it succeeded to convert the enterprise of relating to crafts producing the automobile supplier to the world-wide active electro-technology company.
From the outset Bosch was the out and further training of its coworkers a special request. To the consciousness of the social responsibility of the entrepreneur it already introduced 1906 as one first into Germany the eight-hour work time. Further exemplary social achievements for the coworkers followed. At the defense contracts of the First World War Robert Bosch had wanted to earn nothing and donated several million Marks for non-profit purposes. he handed by him donated a hospital to 1940 over, in Stuttgart of its regulation. The 1969 developed new building carries this very day the name "Robert bosch hospital".
In the 1920er and 1930er years was also politically active Robert Bosch. As liberal entrepreneur it belonged to different restaurant committees. He invested many energy and high financial means into the reconciliation between Germany and France. Of it it expected a durable peace in Europe and the creation of a European marketing area without customs barriers.
The National Socialist regime in Germany set a rapid end for these efforts Boschs. Soon the enterprise took over also defense contracts and employed during the war forced laborer. At the same time however Robert Bosch supported the resistance against Adolf Hitler and saved with its closest coworkers Jews and other pursued one of the Nazi regime before the Deportation.
On 10 October 1887 married Robert Bosch Anna Kayser, which sister of its friend Eugen, which became later, 1909, director/conductor of the metal work in fire brook. 1888 were born daughter Margarete, 1889 daughter Paula, 1891 son Robert, who died 1921 to multiple Sklerose. From its second marriage with Margarete Woerz, which were closed 1927, come of the son Robert (* 1928) and the daughter EH (* 1931). Robert Bosch had large interest in agricultural questions and possessed a larger agricultural messuage south of Munich. In addition it was inspired hunter.
Robert Bosch died 1942 in Stuttgart. Its grave is on the forest cemetery in Stuttgart Degerloch.
1937 had converted Robert Bosch its enterprise into a GmbH (Robert Bosch GmbH) and had written a will, in which he ordered that the yields of the enterprise are to be supplied to non-profit purposes. At the same time it sketched therein the fundamentals of the 1964 of its successors converted and to today valid enterprise condition. In this connection 1964 also the non-profit administration of an estate Bosch GmbH were created, from which 1969 Robert Bosch donation came out.
