Richard (thick) J. Egan (* 1930) is a joint founder of the EMC corporation and former Ambassador of the United States in the Republic of Ireland.

Richard Egan is considered as one of the most successful enterprise leaders in the USA in 20. Century.

1961 it completed the university with the conclusion Bachelor OF Science in electro-technology on the Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

1963 it was involved with a team with the development by memory systems for the Apollo project of NASA.

With Roger Marino it created 1979 the EMC corporation, which developed within few years to the largest, independent manufacturer of memory systems and to one economically at the most successful enterprise in the USA. Until January 1992 was Egan Chief Executive Officer of the EMC corporation.

To 14. March 2001 appointed George W. Bush Richard Egan the Ambassador in Ireland.
