Rhine lime is an entrepreneurial group, which originated in to 1999 from the unification of the Rheini limestone works in and the RWK lime AG in Wuppertal Dornap. It belongs to the world largest manufacturer of lime and products of dolomite to the Belgian Lhoist group.
The Rheinisch of lime burning plants (RWK lime AG) had been 1887 by William , Anton winters and the trade union Maximilian. In them Lhoist took part 1993. The Rheini limestone works in had been created 1903 by August Thyssen, in order to secure itself lime occurrences for the steel production. Lhoist took over the enterprise 1997.

The work Flandersbach of the group of Rhine limes is the largest lime burning plant of Europe. However annually approximately 7.5 millions t limestone are promoted here.
The need of lime exists in many ranges of the industry (for example steelmaking, building industry, paper industry) and the agriculture.
