The REWE Group Austria is responsible within the REWE company for the markets Austria, Italy and Eastern Europe, and gained approximately a fifth of the company turnover. It is after net turnover (2004) fourth largest the enterprise of Austria.

Rewe swallowed also the majority (162) of the Julius Meinl branches and IDEA.

The REWE Group Austria gained 2005 a gross sales of 8.23 billion euro compared with 7,82 billion euro in the year 2004. Of it 5.05 billion was allotted to the addresses in Austria, 1.89 billion to Italy and 1.29 billion to the MOEL states, in which REWE is active. The coworker conditions amounted to 2005 52,296 (inclusive partial time employees), which represents an increase compared with 2004 of 1.440 persons.

Among the REWE Group Austria rank 2,529 branches - of it 1,907 in Austria, 356 in Italy and 266 in the MOEL states.
