By a reservation one understands the obligatory reservation for the use of a certain thing, usually on a concrete date or time period in the future. By the reservation usually comes off no use contract, however the cancellation of a reservation can be connected with expenses.

Occasionally also the term reservation is sense-related used.

Reservation can concern:

• a seat in the course, in the airplane, in the cinema or theatre.
• a package tour
• a table in the restaurant
• a room in the hotel or a vacation home
• in the trade the reservation for a commodity, which is momentarily out of print or which is to be acquired only at a later time (purchase option).
