Rechtsreferendariat in Germany the section of the lawyer training is called, in which the training between first and the second state examination in most Lands of the Federal Republic carry the service designation "for right junior lawyer ". In Hessen this designation becomes however lawyer after existed 1. State examinations as title lent, which is not bound to the Referendariat. In Baden-Wuerttemberg and Saxonia lawyers with that get 1. State examinations the title "junior lawyer ", thus without the additive "on the right of ", lent and may lead him also further durably if them the training as 2. State examinations in the Rechtsreferendariat do not continue.

The Referendariat is divided into stations, in which the right junior lawyer is practically trained in each case for some months in different right areas. In addition the junior lawyer is assigned to a regional court (in Berlin the Court of Appeal), from which it is assigned to the respective single teachers. So a junior lawyer can e.g. Stations at a civil court, with which, in the local administration and with an attorney complete public prosecutor's office. Accompanying to it working groups take place at the regional court, in which writing examinations and stops is e.g. practiced by document lectures.

The junior lawyer puts the second legal state examination down at the end of the Referendariats. Only after it he is full lawyer and carries the title "for Assessor ". This is e.g. a condition for an attitude into most legal occupations, like attorney, judge, public prosecutor or civil servant in the higher service.

The right junior lawyers may in accordance with "§"§ 10, 142 exp. 3 GVG (Judiciary Act) certain tasks for completion under supervision of a judge or a state lawyer be transferred (for example the staatsanwaltliche meeting agency in the main negotiation in criminal actions). In other member states similar training programmes exist to the European union. Differently than in Germany in many of these states the young lawyers are prepared purposefully at a certain range of legal activity. In Germany again and again is thought to likewise give up the past so-called unit training in favor of section training. This demand is particularly raised from the German lawyer association, however followed to have also representatives of other occupational groups like the judge shank and the federal state policy the desire for a reform of the Referendariats.
