Otto realm ELT GmbH is a former independent supermarket chain with branches in Berlin and the closer surrounding countryside.

Firm history

Realm ELT was created 1919 by Otto realm ELT. As Otto realm ELT AG the company had its seat in Berlin Marienfelde. 1960 were taken up production by meat and Wurstwaren. Since 1972 also a baking goods production belongs to the firm group. 2002 were taken over realm ELT by the EDEKA min the Hanover getting thing GmbH to 100%. The own central storage depot in Berlin Marienfelde was given up. The supply of the branches takes place now from the Edeka camp in green heath (Mark). Also the administration moved after green heath. In Berlin Marienfelde the meat work remained that now beside the branches of realm ELT also supplies different business in the Edeka group.

Firm politics

Realm ELT always took a role of the pioneer in the food trade. Thus the enterprise opened 1955 to first self-service shop, with the sales by fresh fruit and vegetable was a little later begun. 1960 followed fresh meat bars, which were supplied by the own meat work. Also the sales areas of the branches were constantly increased. 1962 was opened for the first time to shops with more than 1000 m 1972 gave it the first region market with 2000 m

Since the assumption by Edeka realm ELT concentrates on the larger branches with more than 800 m sales area. The branch network of realm ELT shrank from 86 shops to 53 markets. Most of the given up business were resumed as Edeka markets. The own shops are all around modernized. The consolidation phase after the assumption by Edeka is regarded 2005 as finally. Now realm ELT wants to again expand. About 6 new markets are to be opened starting from 2006 per year.

Today's meaning

Beginning of 2006 under the company Reichelt of 53 markets as well as that are operated own meat work. To the enterprise the branch baker's shop belongs in Berlin Mariendorf, which drives its baking goods out in the area Berlin under the names , Hilbig, Nowak and Semmel .
