Release funds in history

Already in the antique one it was usual to extort ransom for prisoners. Thus the Roman field gentleman Gaius Julius Caesar came into the hands of pirates. After it had become released by payment of a sum of 20 talents, it led a fleet against the Piraten and took these prisoner.

Historically probably the highest ransom demanded the Spanish conquerer Francisco Pizarro in the year 1533 for the release of the Inka chieftain Atahualpa, which it had imprisoned taken in the battle of Cajamarca: approximately 25 tons of gold and silver.

Admits is also the shank of the English king Richard lion heart, which ended to 1194 after paying an immense ransom of 6000 buckets silver.

Release funds in the present

Today release funds are required mainly in the connection by kidnappings. In some countries the collection of release funds belongs to the organized criminality.
