The connection of these terms wins today within all industrial ranges with high investment volume and risk potential increasingly in meaning.
It is particularly used in the course industry for the system specification by security systems in the railway nature.
The goals of security and the availability in the service can be carried out only if the reliability and maintainability requirements constantly fulfills, and which are supervised current long-term maintenance work as well as the operational surrounding field. The availability is based on the knowledge of the reliability, based on the system crash rates and the probability of the arrival of a loss (FMEA (APPROX.)) and the effect of a loss on the functionality of a system (FMEA (APPROX.) /Fehlerbaumanalyse) and based on the knowledge of the maintainability, on the knowledge of the repair times.
