fglrx (ATI)

Chip manufacturer ATI has an own team, which develops the driver further fglrx (probably for Fire GL Radeon X). The Radeon GPUs is supported starting from R200 (R100, RV100 and RV200 thus not). Since end of 2004 approx. every two months new versions are published. Compared with the Catalyst packages for Windows the function range is smaller and new GPUs with delay is only supported. Thus since October 2005 the available R5xx chips are only supported with the driver 8.24.8 from April 2006.

The installation package is only for talks Enterprise Linux and Novell/Suse Linux adapted. For other distributions a so-called Wrapper on the system of the user must be usually compiled.
