The plants form their own realm within the domain of the Eukaryoten. They are placed with the animals into their own realm (Opisthokonta).
Today one follows the phylogenetischen system, which groups the plants on the basis their descent systematically in biology almost exclusively. Therefore apply only the alga lines with Plastiden from primary Endosymbiose to the genuine plants (Plantae). In addition the (Chlorophyta) belong, the Streptophyta (contain the land plants, the decoration algae, the arm light ral gene and some further alga lines), the red algae (Rhodoplantae; after Saunders and Hommersand 2004) and probably also the Glaucocystophyceen. Chlorophyta and Streptophyta are summarized as Viridiplantae.
