Description and naming

Most plants grow as one year's or as krautige plants of several years. The blooms are petals and zwittrig. The blooms are them are or zygomorph. The styluses grew together up to the point. Only two Samenanlagen are present per Fruchtblatt. The sheets are mostly gelappt to divided. are present.

With all Taxa a narrow bill-similar thing is at the upper end of the fruit, why three of the kinds and the family were designated after birds (Aves). The name of the kind Geranium is derived from the Greek word geranos = Kranich, Pelargonium comes from the Greek pelargos = stork and Erodium from the Greek erodios = heron. In German however the kind Geranium is called pantograph and called Pelargonien (Pelargonium) frequently geraniums. To attribute latter is to it that to which the nomenclature of the bloom plants essentially decreases/goes back added the Pelargonien of the kind Geranium. Only as in 18. Century numerous South African Pelargonien, the famous Amateurbotaniker Charles Louis L' de Brutelle was introduced could become generally accepted with the fact that Pelargonium was recognized as independent kind. In the linguistic usage at this time however already the designation had been already in-patriated "geraniums "for the Pelargonien kinds. One of the differences between the two kinds is: Geranium has blooms and Pelargonium has zygomorphe blooms.
