Public management economics (also BWL shortened) are a form of the special management economics. The BWL refers the connections of the general management economics to the special needs of the public administrations and enterprises. One differentiates therefore also between the BWL of the public administrations and the BWL of the public enterprises.
In older literature one speaks in this connection of administrative operating teachings. In recent literature and at universities increasingly the terms Public management and/or Nonprofit management are established. The academic subject public management economics is predominantly at administrative professional schools, at which the new generation of the officials of the elevated service is trained. In addition the BWL is in the meantime also represented at chairs of general professional schools and universities
