Prohairesis (griech. choice, decision) is a Greek cliche and a philosophical term from the Nikomachi ethics Aristoteles.

Aristoteles describes in its Nikomachi ethics (Prohairesis/decision) as a substantial term of the trade, since an action can be only called, what by a decision was arranged.

In the striving ethics, which orients itself at Aristoteles, Riedenuer Prohairesis "execution unit of props and reason and in it answer to the appearing thing property" is after Markus.

Into the philosophical argument over the terms wools and judgements are various uses and meanings of prohairesis, for which different interpretations of the Nikomachi ethics are the basis. Thus interpret more another Hannah Arendt prohairesis, which uses this term also in an exchange of letters with Martin Heidegger, in "Willing" P. 59 as "choice between alternative one preference into the scythe OF - than". Hermann cousin translates this arndtsche interpretation into German with "the choice in the sense of preferring one of several possibilities".

In mentioned exchange of letters Arendt writes: "(...) I left Kant for the will problem provisionally rather aside; contrary to thinking and judging he seemed to me there rather unproductivy. Now I will have myself to consider all of this again. I assumed the Greek antique one knew neither the will nor the liberty problem (when problem). I begin thus the actual discussion with Aristoteles (prohairesis, to show but only over, how certain phenomena present themselves, if the will is unknown as independent fortune, and go then from Paulus, Epiktet, Augustin, Thomas to Duns Scotus. (...)".

The linguistic picture "Ha after wind" corresponds to the cliche "prohairesis pneumatos".
