Printer marks are labels, which serve the origin of a printed product for the indication. Printer marks were introduced with the invention of the printing. Since by the printing the inexpensive possibility was created, writings to manufacture and spread and manufacturing copies of individual works, arose for the printers the necessity their printed products was simplified to mark.
The oldest well-known printer mark originates from the year 1457 and is in the Mainzer Psalter printed by Johannes Fust and Peter
