The Prawda (Russian , German truth) is a Russian daily paper, which was controlled in the times of the cold war by the Soviet ruling powers. It was created by IljĀtsch and should not be confounded therefore not with the newspaper of the same name created of Leo Trotzki 1908.

After the collapse 1991 the Prawda came to the USSR into large financial difficulties. 1996 were adjusted the original Prawda. Into the Fussstapfen of the original then different new "Prawdas" stepped, which exists until today. The largest newspaper of the USSR with once 14 million copies daily was splintered into two, later into three parts. When 1992 the financing was missing by the ZK of the CPSU, journalists decided for the form of a corporation. And a first partner appeared himself: The zypriotisch Greek publishing house of the Jannikos family took over parts of the share stick and received for it three of five seats in the board of directors of the again formed medium enterprise.
The daily paper "Prawda" and the weekly paper of "Russia Prawda" stand for the communist party RF to the side.
