Pietro Rossi (* 1738 in Florenz; "† 21 December 1804 in Pisa) was an Italian scientist and Entomologe.

The academic career Rossis carried out itself at the university of Pisa. It there 1759 attained a doctorate to the doctor of philosophy and medicine, informed then from 1763 to 1801 as a professor for logic, before it finally received 1801 the chair for natural history with the special field Insektologie, for whom it today world-wide first professor for Entomologie is often called. Its publications in this area, particularly the fauna etrusca (1790) and the Mantissa insectorum (1792), are considered as pioneer achievements of the Entomologie, which possess scientific validity in far parts in its taxonomy and nomenclature this very day. Its important collection was occasionally in the possession of Johann Christian Ludwig light TIG in Braunschweig and is today in the museum for natural history of the Humboldt university to Berlin.

After Rossi the Museo was designated entomologico Pietro Rossi, was later integrated into the Museo civico di Storia naturale in Milan.
