Pierre Joseph Desault (* 6 February 1744 in Magny Vernois, strike "† 1 January 1795) was a French physician.

Desault learned at the beginning of the surgery with a Bader, until he came into the war hospital of Belfort, where he treated mainly firing wounds. 1764 he came to Paris and there already received after two years the chair of anatomy.

It broke a new course to the treatment of anatomy and particularly vervollkommte surgical anatomy.

Later he became a professor to the pratique, 1782 first surgeon in the hospital de la . 1788 he became a first surgeon and teacher in the Dieu.

Desault was the founder of a new surgical school. Its main earnings/services consist of the fact that it brought accuracy and method into the study of the surgery, which vervollkommte treatment of the fractures by introduction of better kinds of federation and first into France inserted the clinical way of treatment of the Wundarzneikunst.

Its teachings are into and in the "journal de Chirurgie" (Par made by its pupils in the Dieu. 1791-95, 4 Bde. ; German, Frankf. 1801-1806, 12 Bde.) communicated observations as well as in the "OEuvres of chirurgicales" (Par published from Marie Xavier Bichat under Desaults name. 1798, 3 Bde. ; newest expenditures. of Roux, that. 1813; German of Wardenburg, 1799-1800, 4 Bde.).
