The Physical Markup LANGUAGE (PML) is a XML conformal specification language for contents over the EPC network (EPC: electronics product code, electronic product code) exchanged information. PML is a standardized "language" for the storage of data over objects, which can be read both by humans and by machines. Thus information about time, place and environmental condition as well as about the owners can be stored by objects.

The Physical Markup LANGUAGE was sketched by the car ID center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (WITH) as part of its RFID system
