Phlius is an antique, only ionische, then city dorisierte in the northeast Peloponnes and the principal place of the independent area Phliasia at waiters the Asopos, famous by its wine.

Phlius had a aristokratische condition over the longest time of its history and held until for the Peloponnesi war to Sparta.

394 v. Chr. due to a democratic movement the Oligarchie existing since short was fallen and restored only after long internal fights and after conquest of the city by Agesilaos (379). Later Phlius joined the federation.

This very day are remnants of the antique city in the proximity of the village Hagios Georgios.
