Petrus Alfonsi (11. /12. Jh.) was a Spanish physician and the author of the Disciplina clericalis.

Its original Jewish name was Moses Sephardi. It was first Rabbiner and accepted after its baptism in the year 1106 the Christian name Petrus Alfonsi, whereby it added the name of the the name of his Taufpatens, king Alfons I. of whose body physician was he.

He wrote scientific and theological writings, under it the Dialogus, a fictitious discussion between a Christian and a Jew, which is concerned with the relationship of the two religions and turned thereby against the Talmud.

Its probably most well-known work is however around 1115 the written Disciplina clericalis. Thereby short novella-like narrations and fables around a collection of, which are to serve in connection with Sentenzen and father son dialogues for the illustration of human behaviors, act. In recent time these short stories found because of their quite simple latin in adapted form entrance into the latin instruction of the German High Schools and to serve there after conclusion of the text book work as possible initial reading or transition reading.
