Peter Norton (* 14 November 1943 in Aberdeen, Washington) is an US-American software developer and entrepreneur.

Admits became Peter Norton by the development of aid programmes for the command-line orientated operating system DOS into the 1980er years:

• Norton COMM other, an aid programme for the file and data media administration
• Norton utilities, a collection of different analysis and maintenance programs for the PC
• Norton Desktop, a graphic user surface

1985 wrote Norton with Microsoft press the standard work "Advanced MS-DOS Programming", which belongs beside Andrew Schulmans book " Undocumented DOS" to the classical authors in this area. Likewise very popular be "Peter Norton's book", which 1998als German translation appear.

Nortons company Peter Norton Computing was taken over 1991 by Symantec. With proceeds created it and his Mrs. Eileen Harris Norton the art donation Norton Family Foundation.
